I fell for this scam. I am so stupid! I had just shopped at Harbor Freight and it was telling me to do a review ( which I always do) Then it said pay $8 s&h to get the power station, with in 2 hours I went to go use my card and I was broke. They for me for almost $200.
Foolishly, I fell for it also. I received an email from “Harbor Freight Rewards” If I fill out a survey I win a pressure washer. At the end, it asked for my credit card number to charge the shipping cost ( $8.97 ). Everything seemed legitimate.
I checked the reply address on the Phishing email and it was a bottle manufacturer completely unrelated to Harbor Freight.
Unfortunately, I used a bank card (stupid of me) and since I authorized the charge I am out the $8.97. I immediately closed my account so no more charges can be made.
I admit that I am stupid, but I never fell for it! My email read, Harbor FreightWinner confirmation receipt 24552. I figured why would I be receiving a receipt, when I didn’t order anything? So, I googled it, and found out about this scam.
this is a survey and they are using the name Harbor Freight. I took the survey and paid 5.99 for shipping as they said I won a tool kit. I am a fool! so I saw a pending charge from the same outfit as took the 5.99 charge, for $71. and I canceled my card and the other charge as well. it was a mastercard that was requested by the scammers, they don’t like the Visa card. they will issue a new card. i should have checked online first and I would know not to take surveys.
The scammers are so stupid. First they think I’m a male and offer me hot babes for dates. Then they try to get me to fall for Harbor Freight where I’ve never shopped, nor do I need any tools given that I live in an apartment. At least the car warranty calls have stopped recently.
