Former President Donald Trump and 18 others were indicted in Georgia on Monday on charges they broke the law by allegedly attempting to interfere with the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The charges follow a lengthy investigation stemming from Trump requesting Georgia’s secretary of state to “find” enough votes to allow him to win the state’s electoral vote, Law360 reports.
In addition to Trump, the indictment reportedly also included charges against his attorney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and attorney Sidney Powell.
Trump and his alleged co-conspirators have been charged with violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
The accused — which includes an additional 30 unindicted co-conspirators, among others — are alleged to have impersonated a public officer, filed false documents, influenced witnesses and trespassed on computers, among other things.
“Trump and the other defendants charged in this indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump,” the Trump election indictment states.
