What Is This Class Action All About?

Nissan recalled certain 2020-2022 Sentra vehicles as they may have tie rods that can break, causing a loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a crash.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website published the recall Aug. 15. It applies to 236,238 model-year 2020-2022 Sentra vehicles.

According to the recall, the tie rods, which connect the steering gear to the wheel, may bend.

“A bent tie rod can break and cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash,” the recall states.

Owners should contact their dealer for transport assistance if they experience an off-center steering wheel or vibration, the recall states.

As an interim repair, dealers will inspect and replace any bent or broken tie rods free of charge. Once newly designed parts are available, dealers will replace both tie rods, the Nissan recall says.

The automaker expects to mail interim letters Oct. 5, 2023, and a second letter once the final remedy is available.

In March, Nissan issued a separate recall for more than 700,000 of its Rogue and Rogue Sport vehicles over concerns they were equipped with defective jackknife keys that could cause a driver to inadvertently turn off the vehicle while it is in use.
